To say I’m excited to share this Crested Butte waterfall elopement with you today would be a major understatement. A few weeks back Rocky Mountain Bride shared this beautiful elopement on their blog. Kristin and Phil’s love story goes like this:
They met while on a mountain bike ride with mutual friends. And then again, “coincidentally,” in a yoga class. I say coincidentally in air quotes because Phil drove an hour to the next town so he could attend the yoga class he knew Kristin would be at. That’s when they became adventure partners. Almost every weekend you can find Phil and Kristin camping in their Westfalia van, mountain biking 30-mile trails, skiing the backcountry or practicing early-morning yoga. Their adventurous spirits shined in every aspect of the planning process and continued up to the day before their wedding when they decided to change the ceremony location.

Their adventurous spirits shined in every aspect of the planning process and continued through their wedding day when 15 minutes prior to the ceremony, Phil started up a chainsaw to move a down tree in their ceremony location.
And their wedding . . . Oh their wedding! It’s what I now lovingly refer to as the ‘Waterfall Elopement Fairy Tale’, for good reason. Their one request was to be surrounded by wildflowers and a beautiful backdrop. Due to the lack of precipitation, the hills usually covered in bright colored wildflowers weren’t; at least not at the original ceremony location. An hour away from the original location, down a 4-wheel drive road we found a breathtaking backdrop…a waterfall surrounded by wildflowers. It was perfect!
This beautiful couple chose to elope in Crested Butte because they wanted “to remember a day that reflected the raw meaning of honoring our commitments to each other. We wanted our wedding day to be free of distractions and allow our memories, vows, and special moments to shine clear and true. We wanted to be in nature together, where we feel most content, and I’m not sure most of our guests would have wanted to trek so far off the beaten path.”
Kristin and Phil, your Crested Butte waterfall elopement is a sweet memory and will forever remain as such. I wish you a lifetime of joy and happiness. The amazing team behind Magnified Joy Photography knocked it out of the park with the beautiful images you are about to view. Enjoy!
